Still unresolved: 2009 goals

It's that time of year, when you're supposed to get all thoughtful about last year and hopeful about next. The holidays! Resolutions and pudding and ponies for everyone! Well, since were in a period of deep national reflection I thought I'd join in and give y'all a report on all the super things I accomplished in 2009. It'll be boring, I promise.

Back in January I posted this list of goals:

  1. Go on vacation. I didn’t realize how great vacation was until last year. It’s great.
  2. Finish off long-standing bouldering projects, including Swamp Thing (V7/8), Pyramid Power (Worlds Hardest V7©), Boulder X (V6), and Gun Show (V8?).
  3. Finish fixing up the spare bedrooms (lots o’ plaster repair – fun!).
  4. Send at least one V9 or harder (maybe Margin Walker, Loomit, Satan on a Half Shell, or Stegosaurus).
  5. Turn 29 (I needed at least one gimme).
  6. Do the moves on Halcyon (V11) and Stand and Deliver (V11).
  7. Read at least one book that’s not a total escapist throw-away.
  8. Keep updating this pile of pointlessness folks call a blog.
Without further ado, the results:
  1. Check. Puerto Rico. Warm, sunny, only one near-death experience (and I wasn't the nearly dead one anyway).
  2. Check-ish. Did Pyramid Power and Swamp Thing, but not Boulder X and Gun Show.
  3. Check. Well, mostly check. Need to finish a little painting and figure out where the hell to store all the crap we've been tossing into the empty spare room.
  4. Negative. Lame.
  5. Natch.
  6. Kinda-sorta? Did about half the moves on each. It's really difficult to rehearse the middle/end moves on both problems, so progress has been sloooooow. Plus I didn't get on them much.
  7. Check, if you count The Road, which I think is a pretty poor excuse for quality literature.
  8. Check. Sometimes.
All in all, pretty damn meh. But that's what I expected anyway, so call it a win.
